Lunch time, critical one when your workload is important and you want a relaxing hour. You’ve most of the time one hour to eat, in some cases a bit more and you don’t really want to wait a lot neither.
This is exactly in this kind of mood that I went to VS restaurant, on Parnu Mnt 28. I already knew this place from before, but never for a lunch. I actually liked the inside, the decoration really different from all the other places and the transparent window where you can watch the kitchen is something I like a lot. I won’t spend my time on the decoration and which artistic feeling it gives me for the very simple reason that I have no artistic feeling in general.
The girls serving there, again only girls as in many other places, are good looking, smiling from time to time and always look really busy and running everywhere. But always stay polite and answering to you if you need. I would say that this is a positive side of this place.

About the food, they offer many different kinds of meals. From pasta, to Indian food or “Chinese food” or so called in Estonia (I will explain this sentence later), with drinks and all kinds of snacks (wraps, French fries, etc…). To be honest and realistic (something rare for a French and especially me), nothing to really complain about the food quality. The meals are served hot, and even if the so called “French Potatoes” were far from what I was expecting, the chicken Tikka I ordered was nice and tasty for 140eek, but certainly not the “astonishing” one some websites about restaurants are promoting. But still, I will not criticize the different meals as I tried many since the year I’ve spent in Estonia.
Now let’s go to the point which made me give this title to the article. Café VS is certainly a very nice place for parties and happenings with DJs, but certainly not the place you will go if you are a bit in a hurry for lunch. Why? Because we have been waiting nearly 40 minutes to get the food, including the French potatoes, which I didn’t know it was taking so much time to prepare. Might be because the garden where they are picking them up is a bit far, or because they run too fast I don’t know. Moreover, I might be too picky one more time, but I still consider that spending so much time in a café, waiting for a meal is not something normal when you can even check how fast they work in the kitchen. So if you are planning to have lunch there, with at least a starter, main dish plus dessert then better take your afternoon off and postpone all the work you planned before. It is certainly a bit mean, but some other places are going faster for the same price and certainly less resources.
Although this was a really big disappointing point, I will still suggest the place for afternoon lunch or even diner. Indeed, the place is nice, well located and you will enjoy for sure the overall feeling that the decoration gives.
